Aim & Objectives
- Promote public interest in merchant navy so that more people can participate in this field for its betterment in Tanzania.
- Promote better understanding among members and other relevant associations or parties so as to enhance cooperation among such groups.
- Afford a forum for the discussion of merchant navy problems at large, with particular emphasis on safety of life and property at sea, especially those affecting Tanzania. And make the outcome of such discussions and proposals adopted known to the appropriate authorities, and thereafter ensure that they are implemented for the betterment of members and the public.
- Co-operation with all appropriate authorities and institutions in maintaining and enhancing the standards of merchant navy officers' knowledge and assist members on new technological advancements pertinent in the profession.
- Be ready to offer free professional advice to merchant navy organisations and institutions or individuals on relevant matters when called upon.
- Raise funds for the running of the Association through member fees, contributions, donations from sympathisers and any other legal means.
- Organise lectures or addresses by experts in relevant fields or other interested persons of distinction in matters concerning the merchant navy.
- Subscribe to materials and papers on merchant navy and/or publish the Association's magazine or pamphlet to advance the aims and objectives of the Association.
